DUDES & DUDS – Week 8

Dudes

QB – Jalen Hurts Vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles look like the best team in football right now. Hurts is coming off a bye and will be facing a Steelers defense that has been playing down a few key men but has stayed afloat. The Eagles offense is going to drown them.

QB – Andy Dalton Vs. Las Vegas Raiders

The ghost of John Gruden lives on and this week he will enter fellow red head Andy Dalton’s body to once again terrorize the Raiders. Dalton is coming off his performance of the season (364 YDs, 4 TDs) and he’ll look to build off that performance against a Raiders defense that is giving up the most fantasy points to opposing QBs this season.

RB – Joe Mixon @ Cleveland Browns

One thing the Browns do very well is run the football. One thing the Browns don’t do very well is defend the run. My prediction is that Joe Mixon goes for over 100 yards on the ground for the first time this season and scores over 20 PPR points this week.

RB – Ezekiel Elliott Vs. Chicago Bears

The rotation the Cowboys have deployed at the running back position seems to be keeping Zeke fresh and allowing him to play his best football when called upon. Elliott is coming off back to back 15+ point performances and the Bears are giving up over 22 fantasy points a game. Look for the Cowboys to lean on the run once again as Dak continues to work his way back to 100%.

WR – Chris Godwin Vs. Baltimore Ravens

I keep waiting for the Tom Brady/Chris Godwin connection to break out and I believe this is the week it happens. Godwin has been floating around the 6 to 7 reception mark, which is solid, but he has yet to find the end zone or top 100 yards receiving. I believe he hits both marks this week against a very poor Ravens pass defense.

WR – DJ Moore @ Atlanta Falcons

We were promised an upgrade in production from DJ Moore when the Panthers acquired Baker Mayfield. After a few weeks, it was quickly revealed that was not the case. Moore finally had a productive week with PJ Walker at the helm and will face the worst ranked pass defense in the league in week 8.

TE – Zach Ertz @ Minnesota Vikings

Deandre Hopkins came back and led the team in targets in week 7. I expect similar results for Hopkins this week but I expect Kyler Murray to look at Ertz as option #2. The Vikings have given up the 4th most points to tight ends through 7 weeks and Ertz should have plenty of room to work.

Flex – Taysom Hill Vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Taysom Hill is like the killer clown of the NFL. It’s hard to take him seriously because you’re not sure exactly where he fits in but when you line up against him, he’ll kill ya.

Duds

QB – Aaron Rodgers @ Buffalo Bills

I have quite a few shares of Rodgers and I’ve yet to quit on him…to this point. After last week’s performance, I’m throwing in the towel. Do I think Rodgers can turn it around? Sure. I just don’t think it’s going to happen this week and I definitely don’t think it’ll happen unless they somehow acquire an elite wide receiver to help him out.

QB – Trevor Lawrence Vs. Denver Broncos

Trevor Lawrence has been developing before our very eyes and it is clear that his future is bright. That being said, this week I expect him to have one of his worst outings of the season. The Broncos have made opposing QBs suffer this season and Lawrence is next in line.

RB – Christian McCaffrey @ LA Rams

The San Francisco 49ers have had the LA Rams number for the last few years but this week, I think the Rams pull it together after a bye week and shut the 49ers down. The Rams have the best rushing defense in the NFL and they’ll be motivated to take the 49ers shiny new toy to the dump.

RB – Michael Carter/James Robinson Vs. New England Patriots

With Breece Hall going down and the Jets acquiring James Robinson, the Jets backfield situation is quite unclear at the moment. The Patriots have had a strong rushing defense up until last week when they faced the tandem of Herbert and Montgomery. I expect the Patriots to bounce back in this one and stifle the Jets rushing attack.

WR – Stefon Diggs Vs. Green Bay Packers

The Packers only chance in this one is to play elite defense and keep this one as low scoring as possible. Through 7 weeks, the Packers have played well against opposing passing attacks and I believe they will make it a priority to eliminate Diggs and force the Bills to try and beat them on the ground.

WR – Diontae Johnson @ Philadelphia Eagles

Diontae, Dion-bae or Dion-nay…this week it’s nay. Darius Slay will do exactly that, slay, in this week 8 match-up.

TE – Dalton Schultz @ Chicago Bears

I have been afraid to start Schultz practically every week this season either due to Dak being hurt or Dalton having a lingering knee issue. The knee popped up once again last week and seems as if it will not be going away any time soon. The Bears have been great against opposing Tight Ends and I’m avoiding this play.

Flex – Hunter Renfrow @ New Orleans Saints

Renfrow may be the most disappointing asset I have on any of my Fantasy rosters this season. I believed in Renfrow, I expected Adams to create mismatches for Renfrow that would enable him to feast underneath. I was very wrong and I have come to terms with that and I am finally putting Hunter on the duds list.
