Art Green is an athletic corner that tends to stay around the ball (4:30 left in 3rd qtr vs Navy, Navy is in a tight bunch formation to top screen & Green is to the bottom. Once ball is snapped Green reads the QBs eyes and closes on TE who is running an a short out. Greens instinct and speed able him to pick the ball off) . He has good length & overall speed. Green is a physical DB at the line of scrimmage and likes to make his presence known. Green is in his element of man coverage as he played most of his Cougars career on the outside. He does well with wrapping up when tackling as 38 of his 49 tackles were solo. Green has good ball skills and uses his size well in 50/50 balls (5:45 left in 3rd qtr vs Texas Tech, Green is lined up at bottom of screen which 2 WRs to bottom. Green switches off the outside receiver when he sees the QB target the slot WR. Green uses his athleticism to leap in front of receiver for the INT).
CON’S
Green tends to be upright during his back pedal which leads to him not being as smooth in and out of transitions (7:45 left in the 1st qtr vs SMU, Green is on Rashee Rice at bottom of screen. Ball is snapped at the 3 yd line of Houston and Rice runs a 5 yd comeback route. Green stumbles out of back pedal and easy TD to Rice). Twitchy WRs can get the best of Green off the LOS as he likes to be physical and can bite early. Likely to play as an outside man cover CB at the next level as he was strictly on the outside for the Houston Cougars. He only took 37 snaps in the slot compared to 649 on the outside.
OVERALL
Art Green is an all round good coverage CB who has a 70% coverage rate on the outside. Something to watch is that Green was invited to / played in the Hula Bowl & Shrine Bowl took all of his snaps at FS and in the box. GMs at the next level may like his physical play and speed to be able to cover in space. Putting 200 lbs & 4.36 speed in the box should be a nightmare for QBs with tunnel vision!
