DUDES & DUDS – Week 5

Dudes

QB – Tom Brady Vs. Atlanta Falcons

Mike Evans looked great this past week and Chris Godwin looks like he’s getting healthy. The Buccaneers are reeling and Tom Brady will be on point this week getting the squad back on track. I expect a big day through the air.

QB – Russell Wilson Vs. Indianapolis Colts

I wanted to put Russ as a dude last week but I did not have the guts to do it. Wilson showed out against the Raiders, throwing for 2 touchdowns and rushing for 1. I believe Russ is starting to build some momentum and that strong performance will carry over into week 5.

RB – James Robinson Vs. Houston Texans

Robinson will bounce back from a disappointing performance against the Eagles. The Texans defense has given up the most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season and J-Rob will be the latest back to benefit from the match-up.

RB – Dameon Pierce @ Jacksonville Jaguars

I listed Pierce as a dude last week and he did not disappoint. Pierce tallied 14 carries for 131 yards and a touchdown. Dameon is starting to really look the part of a bellcow running back and I am going to ride the wave. You should feel confident starting him against a weak rushing defense like the Jaguars.

WR – Terry McLaurin Vs. Tennessee Titans

The Titans defense is allowing the 4th most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers so far this season. Terry got the clamps from Trevon and co in week 4 but I expect him to bounce back with a strong performance against a weak opponent.

WR –  Chris Olave @ Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks made Jared Goff look like Dan Marino in week 4. This week, whether Jameis or Dalton are at the helm, I expect Olave to have a strong outing. Olave is wide receiver 16 in Fantasy Football through 4 weeks and, with this performance, he’ll hop into the top 12.

TE – Zach Ertz @ Philadelphia Eagles

Zach Ertz revenge game! Ertz saw 2 top 5 defenses against TEs in his first 4 weeks and has still managed to make his way to TE4 in fantasy points scored. This week he’ll face a middle of the pack Eagle defense that he knows well. I expect Zach to have his best performance as a Cardinal to date.

Flex – JK Dobbins Vs. Cincinnati Bengals

I’ll admit, I was too scared to start JK Dobbins in any of my Fantasy leagues last week and that came back to bite me in the end. This week, I’ll slide him in as a flex play because I feel the floor is high. Lamar will continue to freeze the LBs which will give Dobbins room to run.

Duds

QB – Matt Ryan @ Denver Broncos

The Broncos defense has been very strong against the pass and they’ll be getting after Matt Ryan in this match-up. Expect Patrick Surtain II, who shadowed Davante Adams in week 4, to see a lot of Michael Pittman in this one.

QB – Matthew Stafford Vs. Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys pass rush has been making it very difficult on opposing quarterbacks thus far this season. I expect Cooper Kupp to get his in this match-up but I also expect a few sacks form the Cowboys defense and a handful of interceptions given out by Matthew Stafford this week.

RB – Dallas Cowboys RBs @ LA Rams

I believe this is the week the glow of Cooper Rush wears off. The Rams defense will stack the box and dare the Cowboys to beat them through the air. If this game gets out of reach, the Cowboys will abandon the run game and be forced to throw more than they want to.

RB – James Conner Vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Conner has only topped 50 yards on the ground once this season and has yet to have a performance that landed him above RB17 in fantasy scoring for the week. The Eagles defense held James Robinson and Travis Ettiene in check in week 4 and they’ll likely have similar success against James Robinson in week 5.

WR – Mike Williams @ Cleveland Browns

Williams is a dud strictly for the fact that there is a pattern developing for him and I believe I’ve caught on. If you look at Williams’ last 4 games you’ll notice that a strong performance follows a poor performance for him. Last week he went off so I’m expecting him to be quiet in this one.

WR –  Ceedee Lamb @ LA Rams

Ceedee Lamb will get the attention of Jalen Ramsey this week and I do not like that match-up for him. Lamb has rebounded well from a rough week 1 but I do not think he likes to be challenged and this week, he’ll be challenged.

TE – David Njoku @ LA Chargers

The David Njoku breakout is upon us but this week it’ll hit a bit of a speed bump. The Chargers defense has faced Darren Waller and Travis Kelce already this season and they fared very well. They’re prepared to eliminate Njoku from the game plan and force Brissett to look elsewhere.

Flex – Tyler Allgeier @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Allgeier is taking over as the leader of the backfield with Patterson heading to the IR. Many fantasy managers will be excited they drafted or picked up Tyler, but this week will end up being a very disappointing one. The Buccaneers defense is fast and physical and they’ll meet young Tyler head on and shut him down.
