PRO’S

McKee has the prototypical size at QB that teams drool over.  He has above average arm strength and can send it downfield with ease.  He gets rid of the ball quickly.  McKee has pinpoint accuracy and he is WR-friendly as he can place the ball where only the receiver can get it.  McKee will stand in the pocket and can make all the reads, but he also has the ability to take off and make a play with his feet or throw on the run.

CON’S

McKee has a ¾ release that teams may want to tinker with to make it more traditional.  He panics in the pocket at the first sign of pressure.  McKee was really hampered in the offense run by Stanford – Stanford runs an offense that is called “a slow mesh/RPO” so all of McKee’s throws came from the gun (which will be a red flag for NFL General Managers).  A lack of talent around him skewed his numbers as well.

OVERALL

McKee was a U.S. Army All-American and a Polynesian Bowl participant where he won MVP, but he has not had the chance to really show his talent due to Stanford being down for the last few seasons.  McKee has a chance to develop into an NFL quarterback (starter or backup to be determined) with the right team, the right system, and patience to develop him.  It will be interesting to see what he can do in a true NFL system.
