PRO’S

Entering his Freshman season Jarrett was 202 lbs but quickly got into a collegiate regiment and cut to 194 lbs lean muscle and grew into a Sophomore Sweetheart when he accumulated 56 rec, 769 yds, 5 TDs, and his best collegiate season. Rakim Jarrett’s ability to play anywhere on the field offensively is his greatness attribute. Swiss Army Knife of Alignment: can play in the slot, outside, motion, jet sweep, etc. His short area burst and quickness is elite and helps him become a first target for the QB (2:43 left in 2nd qtr vs SMU, Taulia Tagovailoa uses play action to Hembly w/ Jarrett in the slot, Jarrett proceeds to draw both LBs underneath & the safety over the top but has the awareness to get to the open spot along the sideline and turns upfield for the TD) . Rakim looks like Ned Jarrett (NASCAR) in traffic zigging and zagging through the open field (14 mins left in 4th qtr vs Buffalo, Jarrett in the slot crosses w/ the WR and loses DB at the 40 runs free to the 20 before shaking DB w/ stutter and spin move for another 5+ yds). Jarrett’s field/sideline awareness is bar none, there were multiple plays in his career when announcers believed he was out but after replay he was most definitely in bounds. Jarrett just has a natural knack for getting open.

CON’S

Although Jarrett has short area quickness to get open and in front of the defender, downfield separation isn’t on the same level and can get caught from behind. He has a smaller catch radius which can make for tighter windows from the QB. Rakim will tend to trap the ball with his body instead of catching with his hands which will lead to incompletions.

OVERALL

Jarrett has all the WR potential to be a Day 2 WR pick and live in the slot for an NFL offense. His elite short area quickness will be on display in any spread offense and be a headache for LBs/S. He will have to work on trapping the ball as that could get him in the dog house fast in the NFL. But a QB like Justin Herbert would love to have Jarrett eating the middle of the field in LA.
