PRO’S
Team Captain. Michael Wilson is very fluid, he transitions into his breaks with ease and does a good job of putting his body between the defender and the football regularly. Quicker than he is fast. Strong and sturdy, rarely gets rerouted. Natural receiver, tracks the ball effortlessly and commits to the catch with urgency and fluidity. Wilson has good strong hands and he pairs them with a solid 6’1”, 216 lb. frame. Willing blocker, tenacious and blocks to the echo of the whistle. Beautifully executed sluggo (slant and go) against Washington (2022, 2nd QTR, 4:10), runs it to about 7 yards, stops and digs in to inside foot of defender, defender commits, than adjusts and climbs to the top of defenders backside creating major separation for an easy touchdown throw from his quarterback.
CON’S
After appearing in 22 games over his first 2 seasons at Stanford, injuries piled up and Wilson only played in a total of 14 games over his last 3 seasons. Wilson does not have elite high end speed and will struggle with twitchy corners that are not phased by his size and ability to body position.
OVERALL
McKee was a U.S. Army All-American and a Polynesian Bowl participant where he won MVP, but he has not had the chance to really show his talent due to Stanford being down for the last few seasons. McKee has a chance to develop into an NFL quarterback (starter or backup to be determined) with the right team, the right system, and patience to develop him. It will be interesting to see what he can do in a true NFL system.
Wilson was a team Captain while at Stanford and also landed on the academic honor roll 3 times while enrolled there. Injuries are definitely a concern when it comes to evaluating Wilson and considering investing draft capital in him. Overall, he has the tools to succeed as an outside or inside receiver, he has a very strong build and knows to be available for his quarterback. I think Wilson can be successful at the next level and I think he’ll earn the trust of his quarterback and coaching staff early on if he can manage to remain healthy.
