PRO’S
Dude is a straight up burner. When DBs line up in his face and are not given help over the top, they are toast. Hyatt consistently makes defenses pay in a major way if they make a mistake in coverage or take a bad angle after the catch is made, consistent home run hitter. Good catch in traffic vs. Alabama (2022, 4th QTR, 3:30), quick slant, between 2 defenders, body/possession catch in endzone.
CON’S
Hyatt is not the type of player who’s playing chess with defenders, beating them with pacing and route running technique. He is playing checkers and beating defenders with elite speed and angles. This fact will limit Jalin’s production if he’s put in a situation where a defense can prioritize eliminating him. Though Hyatt is excellent after the catch, it is solely due to his speed, not much of a physical tackle breaker.
OVERALL
Hyatt had very impressive numbers his Junior season at Tennessee and I think how the coaching staff managed to utilize his skillset is a major factor in that production. He’s got elite speed and has a nose for the end zone but will need to be schemed open and put in a position where he is not the 1st or 2nd option so he can occasionally catch defenses sleeping on him.
