Happy Holidays to everyone as we sit here on 12/28 enjoying the Christmas vacation week while watching the Duke – UCF bowl game!
I hate when injuries hi-jack “what could have been” and I feel like that is the situation we have on our hands this Thursday when the Cowboys visit Tennessee. QB Ryan Tannehill has officially been ruled out and Malik Willis will make his second straight start for a Tennessee team struggling to stay in the playoff picture. Willis lost his first start last week 19-14 to the Texans so it feels like we are going to have a horror movie on our hands when the Cowboy defense (an angry one that just gave up 30+ to Philly) gets their hands on the Willis-led Titan offense. In addition to Tannehill being out, star RB Derrick Henry is also very banged up and currently listed as questionable for the game. The belief at time of press is he will be active, however, he may end up being limited by the nagging hip injury.
Willis threw for 99 yards, 0 touchdowns and 2 INTs against the Texans defense so we are staying away from him and most Tennessee receivers this week from a single game fantasy perspective. It is pretty simple fantasy wise, if Henry plays we will play him…if Henry doesn’t play, we will spend $3,000 on RB Hassan Haskins who will be starting in Henry’s place and we will do our best to stay away from most other Titans for the week.
The Cowboys come into the game with their own injury question as RB Tony Pollard is questionable and has not practiced this week. To compensate for not knowing who will play we have created one line up with the idea that both Henry and Pollard are out and one with the idea that they are both playing and of course we will tweak as the news comes in on gameday.
CeeDee Lamb is finally starting to consistently produce like a #1 WR so he will be in all of our line ups. We love Zeke Elliot in the captain spot in the line up where we believe Pollard will NOT play. If Pollard is playing we will play him and not play Zeke in that one. Do not sleep on Cowboy kicker Brett Maher either as he has scored double digits 3 weeks in a row and has a great chance to keep that streak going with this offense clicking on all cylinders right now!
I don’t know how much the Cowboys are really going to have to throw especially in the second half of this game so while we like CeeDee Lamb we would be a little hesitant on putting too much stock in Gallup or Noah Brown this week as we question if their target share will be high enough to be productive. We also will be creating a line up with the Cowboy defense in the captain spot as we expect a big bounce back week from them given the match up and the fact that they should be angry after letting Philly’s backup QB (Gardner Minshew) hang 34 points on them on national TV last week.
