PRO’S

Long Vertical threat. Ideal frame of an outside receiver. Ability to get deep, create separation and stack defenders consistently. Big catch radius, uses his long arms and strong hands to extend well for balls outside of his body. Good burst/acceleration in the open field, tough to catch when he’s got the ball and a full head of steam. Ball tracking skills. Knows where to attack zone coverage, will sit and be a reliable target for his QB.

CON’S

Lean receiver, will get out-muscled during his routes and at the catch point. Takes some time to get to full speed off the LOS. His 2.8 YAC per route run and his 62.1 reception percentage are both a little concerning. Lack of suddenness in some of his double moves. Would like to see Tez expand his route tree and work on sharp/sudden breaks which will ultimately help his ability as a route runner and his ability to sell fakes when attempting to get vertical.

OVERALL

Tez Walker transferred from Kent St. to UNC after leading the MAC in receiving TDs (11) in 2022. True outside receiver, coming in at 6’3” Tez Walker lined up out wide in 93.1% of the snaps for UNC in 2023. I believe Walker needs to develop his route tree in order to truly threaten defenses as more than just a vertical threat. The potential is there for Walker due to his size, athletic traits and ability to run down the football.
