PRO’S
At 6’6” 275 with a 86’ wingspan, Tyree Wilson jumps off the screen. He uses his massive length to long arm lineman and involve himself in the run game. He’s a quick reactor that finds the ball. Wilson wins with power, especially in his hands, using it to plow through and disengage with blockers. His long reach gives him crazy range in run plays. Wilson’s athleticism is phenomenal for his size, with limitless potential as a rusher. He is also effective with a swim move.
CON’S
Wilson is an older prospect who was already in his fifth year of college. He only broke out this season, so there’s right to question how he will transition to the NFL. His get off is slow and he must learn to time plays better. Tyree isn’t a polished speed rusher and may struggle facing the dominant power blockers. He lacks counters as a pass rusher and needs to refine his arsenal. His stamina was a concern in some games, but NFL conditioning should help him. The big issue is whether his strength is translatable, or if he was purely a men amongst boys in CFB.
OVERALL
Tyree Wilson is a well rounded EDGE who can instantly help an offense. His dominance as a run defender will give him value while he improves as an efficient pass rusher. Even without sacks he can cause pressure and collapse a pocket. His get off and overall speed are concerns, and he must adjust as larger Tackles will counter to his strength and size. His pass rush ceiling is high, and Tyree can be a go-to rusher on a defense. For team’s needing immediate run defense and a high end pass rusher Tyree Wilson is perfect, just don’t expect immediate high sack seasons.
