PRO’S
Kei’Trel Clark is a competitive quick footed DB that can sink his hips well and has great football instincts. Kei’ Trel stays low in his back pedal and uses a bicycle step break which allows him a smooth transition in and out of breaks (14:20 left in the 3rd qtr vs Wake Forest, Clark is to the top of the screen in man coverage vs AT Perry. Hartman snaps and instantly looks to his side of the field, Perry stutters before ending the route and Clark uses his bicycle quick step to close and deliver a pick six). Clark has a nose for screens and delays, he acts like a jack-in-the-box how he just pops himself in the backfield for the tackle or disruption (1:52 left in 2nd qtr vs UCF, Clark lined up in the slot, QB Plumlee snaps the ball and the outside WR steps back. Instantly, Clark leaves his man and closes on and disrupts the ball allowing LBs to make the tackle). Clark stays around the ball and at any moment if he gets his hands on the ball it could be a house call! Can play press man and off man coverage. Has versatility on the field — outside, inside, could even play safety if needed — 252 snaps in slot, 423 at corner, 71 in the box (2:05 left in the 2nd qtr vs Wake Forest, Clark is lined up on the inside WR close to the box, Hartman snaps the ball and Clark explodes past the OL and gets to Hartman for the sack).
CON’S
Although it was an afterthought this season Clark did suffer a season ending ACL tear in 2021. A QBR of 107.8 when targeted is below average for the DB class and he gave up 7 TDs this season. Kei’Trel can get a little handsy and physical with WRs as he drew 9 penalties this season.
OVERALL
Kei’Trel Clark’s game translates to the modern NFL, a DB that can play all over the field and can get downhill quickly. Clark’s knack for being around the ball and possible big play ability will intrigue GMs but his size and length will be a concern for some at the next level. Clark will be a value pick in the latter half (4th/5th round) of the draft and pending the landing spot could be an absolute steal! Player Comp: Janoris Jenkins
