PRO’S

Campbell plays with a high level of awareness and discipline. Campbell is a cerebral player who utilizes his eyes and his brain as efficiently as his feet and his strength. 2022 Vs. Iowa State, 1st Qtr w/ 6:30 left, Campbell reads the offensive formation, anticipates the play call, creeps up to the line of scrimmage and knifes through the offensive line for a tackle for loss. Campbell is fierce at the point of contact and has the size and strength to take on approaching blockers. Good eye discipline when dropping in zone coverage, capable of gaining depth quickly in his lateral drops, perceives the threats to his zone while also staying aware of the quarterback and what is going on in front of him.

CON’S

Campbell makes reads quickly on run plays and often gets himself in the right position but sits and waits for the running back to come through rather than shooting through the window. Jack’s lateral speed shows out in his change of direction but his straight line speed leaves a bit to be desired, he’s a 4.65 athlete but lumbers a bit on the field. Though Campbell has the size and strength to fight with offensive linemen, he needs to work on his block shedding.

OVERALL

Campbell received the Dick Butkus award for being the best linebacker in college football in 2022. Campbell had the highest RAS (relative athletic score) of all linebackers that tested at the 2023 NFL Combine. Campbell had a highly productive career at Iowa, he has the size, the athleticism and the intellect to start day 1 in the NFL. I enjoyed watching Campbell pre-snap as well as post-snap, he’s a smart player who gets the most out of his athletic gifts by putting himself in the right place at the right time.
