PRO’S
DeMarvion Overshown has length, range and high end athleticism. Long strides in the open field, capable of making up ground when trailing. Overshown began his career at Texas as a defensive back and you can see those skills in the way he moves around on the field. Shows good hips/range when dropping in coverage, length is a plus here in zone and when match-ed up in man. Quick with good bend when getting around the edge. High motor, makes the most of his sideline to sideline ability.
CON’S
Inexperienced at LB, only playing the position for 3 seasons at Texas. Does not have the strength/power to overcome a linemen that’s gotten a grip on him when rushing the passer. Needs to develop some lower body strength. At this point in his development, he’s not suited for an ILB role due to his inability to take on blocks or a physical downhill run game.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
Overshown was a 4 star defensive back coming out of high school, he started his career as a Safety for the Longhorns before converting to a Linebacker. Overshown is still learning to play the position but has flashed a very high ceiling in a short amount of time. At the Senior Bowl, I witnessed first hand how dynamic Overshown can be as a pass rusher, beating offensive linemen multiple times with beautifully executed spin moves. I expect Overshown to become a more well rounded player as he continues to gain experience at the LB position. Overshown is best suited for a 3-4 defense where he can rush off the edge and drop in coverage.
