PRO’S

Shows versatility, in 2022 Bishop saw 345 snaps in the box, 101 at free safety, 208 in the slot, 62 on the defensive line and 24 out wide at corner. Good athlete, linear speed w/ good range when placed deep middle. Quick trigger, aggressive/instinctive player. Very talented off the edge, tough block for running backs. Vs. Florida, Week 1 2023, 2nd QTR 6:39, comes off edge, sights on QB, quickly detaches from RBs initial contact without swaying off his direct path to the QB, comes down with sack. When in the box or close to the LOS, plays the game like a LB, good at navigating through clutter and not giving up ground while making his way to the ball carrier.

CON’S

Decent in coverage but would like to see it improve in 2023, Bishop’s 70 overall PFF coverage grade from 2022 put him at 40th in the nation amongst all draft eligible safeties heading into the 2023 season. Eye discipline hurts him at times, grabs at crossers while staying at his zone rather than giving them contact and knocking them off their course. Posted a 17.7 missed tackler percentage in 2022, would like to see him get below 15. Head down through contact, leads to miss fires, needs to work on eyes through the thighs. Mismatch w/ shiftier/quicker slot receivers, especially when in motion away from him while he’s in man coverage.

OVERALL

Heading into the 2023 season, Bishop has plenty of experience under his belt with 20 career starts and 25 career appearances. Per UtahUtes.Com, Bishop went into the 2023 season leading all active secondary players in the Pac-12 with 5.9 tackles per game in his career. Bishops 88.2 PFF pass rush grade from 2022 was #1 amongst draft eligible safeties. Bishop is an aggressive player who seems to always find his way to the football, he’s got plenty of experience and has the versatility defensive coordinators will covet.
