PRO’S
Anthony Kendall is a physical, hard-hitting machine. AK doesn’t shy away from contact at all and can get downhill quickly (2:20 left in 4th qtr vs. Mt Union; it’s a 4 WR bunch formation with Kendall to the bottom of the screen. The QB snaps the ball to the RB, crossing to the left side. Kendall throws his blocker to the side and blows up the RB for a loss.). AK plays bigger than his 5’10” size and uses his top-tier athleticism to battle and win most of his contested catch battles. Most of his measurables at the pro day put him 4th or 5th in those categories. AK is good with getting his head around in stride with WRs and has good field awareness (3:40 left in 3rd qtr vs. MTU, 2 WRs to the top of the bottom, 1 to the top w/ Kendall. WR runs a seam route, and Kendall is on him like velcro; as the WR turns towards the sideline, he sees the QB has thrown it behind the WR. Kendall adjusts, turns, and picks the ball off for a 20 yds return). He is a natural impact player with a nose for the ball. Regarding rush support and backfield play recognition, his vision is top-tier, and he gets off blockers quickly to disrupt plays. (7:25 left in 3rd qtr vs. Capital, Kendall is in outside zone coverage and blitzes the QB as he looks to the opposite side and blows him up, causing a fumble).
CON’S
Kendall can sometimes be too physical and get flagged. He plays tight, sticky coverage and can get whistled for being handsy at times. AK’s zone coverage reads will need work at the next level but could be improved with good coaching. Although he is pretty fluid in his backpedal WRs with elite footwork can get the best of Kendall.
OVERALL
There are 6 DIII NFL players, and Anthony Kendall could be the 7th! He will probably be a UDFA, but teams like the Dolphins & Rams have already expressed interest in him. AK’s nose for the ball is uncanny & he always believes he can make a play! Every team needs a playmaker, and AK can be that guy!
