PRO’S

Phenomenal size and measurables, nearly 6’6” with a 36” vert and 4.61 40 is pretty damn impressive. Presents a mismatch with smaller nickel corners and safeties due to his size as well as a speed mismatch with linebackers. Good clean extension for the football, goes to it rather than waiting for it to come to him. Does not struggle with balls outside of his body. Though Luke is not a great blocker, he shows a willingness to mix it up and get himself involved, and does not shy away from the task.

CON’S

His routes/breaks are not very crisp, and relies on his frame to create passing windows rather than separation. Musgrave’s run blocking grade steadily declined from a strong 81.7 as a freshman to 54.3 as a senior. Musgrave has a long reach which he can use to his advantage when blocking but he has limited power and struggles with holding his blocks and driving the opponent. Struggles to get off jam from physical linebackers/DBs. Luke was at Oregon St. for 4 seasons but only saw action in 20 games, limited experience.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

While at Oregon St. Musgrave was lined up in the slot 36% of the time, out wide 5% of the time and inline 58% of the time. Musgrave had 9 career drops and finished his college career with a 16.1% drop rate. A knee injury held Musgrave to only 2 games his senior season. While I believe the potential is there for Musgrave to be an impact player at the next level he’ll need to develop as a route runner to consistently get open and he’ll need to develop as a run blocker in order to be a player coaches can rely on as an every snap guy rather than a package guy.
