PROS
Jordan Battle is a smart/disciplined player. Even when eyes are in the backfield, he stays sound to what he is being asked to do on that specific play. Vs. Auburn, good job in zone coverage passing off receiver leaving his zone and squeezing to receiver entering his zone. Versatile, lines up deep and can roam center field, also plays down in coverage and can run with receivers. Good closing speed/burst. Huge hit on Bigsby/vs. Auburn in 4th quarter, running play being strung outside, finds clearing and meets ball carrier head on at LOS.
CONS
Sits on heels in coverage vs. in breaking route. Vs. Auburn, gets caught frozen and has to grab the receiver to gain momentum and make play on the ball. At times he’s over aggressive when trying to defend the pass, even when he’s in a good position, he can get himself in trouble. Aggressiveness to fill the alley leads to over pursuit on occasion, putting him out of position.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
Battle had the benefit of playing alongside versatile players such as Malachi Moore and Brian Branch, this has awarded him the opportunity to play downhill and focus on what is going on in front of him. Battle has totaled 143 solo tackles, 6 interceptions and 3 touchdowns over his first 4-year career at Alabama, his production cannot be questioned.
