PRO’S
High energy player. Good positioning when sticking to his man in coverage. Closes on ball carriers on outside runs quickly/takes good angles to the ball carrier. Williams is a finisher, when given the opportunity to take a ball carrier head on, he finished with impact. Over 700 career reps as a special teams player while at Tulane. Can gain depth as a zone dropper quickly. Accumulated 195 career solo tackles which is 8th all time in the American Conference.
CON’S
Plays too far over his toes at time’s and causes himself to lose balance when changing direction. Undersized MLB, light lower half, gets swallowed up by bigger OL/TEs when he hesitates to read and react. Most tackles happen at or after the line of scrimmage, Williams isn’t making many quick reads or shooting through open windows as much as I’d like to see.
OVERALL
Very productive in coverage in 2022, 2 interceptions, forced 4 incompletions, 65.2 quarterback rating when he was targeted and had an overall coverage grade of 85.1 (per PFF). Equally as productive against the run, Williams led the American Conference in solo tackles in 2020 (64) and 2022 (81). Williams performs better when kept clean and struggles when in the clutter. Dorian will likely earn snaps early on in Nickel situations and as a special teams player.
