PRO’S
Aggressive and physical, big tackle for loss against Auburn, crashed down hill and swallowed Tank Bigsby. Versatile player, used all over the Alabama secondary and never looked out of position. Smooth in coverage, sifts through clutter and stays with man. Sets edge well on outside runs and screens, keeps ball carrier on inside shoulder.
CON’S
Fast player but does not have elite quickness, shows this in his transition in/out of breaks in coverage. Vs. Auburn in OT, in breaking route by WR, grabs cloth and holds throughout route, does not try to locate/make play on ball, results in TD.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
On a defense full of alphas that will be playing on Sundays in the near future, Branch stands out. He’ll be coveted by defensive coordinators who look for versatility in their safeties. I expect Branch to be a top 50 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
