PROS

Good stop-start. Shows very good contact balance. Quick feet, Evans is good at making a move right before contact and avoiding the defender. Evans has homerun speed and a knack to gain chunk yardage. Three-down back, can run between the tackles and has the speed to get to the edge. Can run you over or make you miss, puts defensive backs in a bad position in which they need to guess which is coming. Nice blitz pick-up vs. Cal from across the formation against the defender coming off the edge.

CONS

Runs a little wild/out of control, gets a little too far over his toes at times. Evans only has 30 total receptions over his 3 years at the college level, the production as a receiving option was simply not there. A few maturity concerns stemming back to his days as a Senior in High School and his initial recruitment as a five star prospect to Georgia. Evans had his 2021 season cut short due to a toe injury.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

Evans is an angry runner who runs with pop and enjoys the contact. Evans played against some poor defenses as a member of the TCU Horned Frogs before moving to the SEC and joining the Ole Miss Rebels. I love Evans’s contact balance, his ability to gain yards after contact and how quickly he gets to top-end speed. I had some questions going into the 2022 season due to the fact he had never carried the ball over 100 times while at TCU and he answered them by hitting 144 for Ole Miss.
