PRO’S

Tyler Scott has experience lining up outside and inside as well as on the line and off the line. Fast, vertical threat who times his breaks well, good at getting the DB to flip his hips before breaking. I’ve seen Scott climb the ladder on multiple occasions for balls thrown well outside of his body and come down, natural. Scott is very good at getting low/shrinking after the catch and decreasing the defender’s target area which paired with speed/elusiveness makes him even harder to bring down.

CON’S

A little tight hipped and at times over extends himself and loses balance in his route when trying to redirect or when matched up closely with a defender after getting off the LOS. Scott does not have sure hands when it comes to balls thrown inside of his body. Scott needs to work on working back to the football on comeback routes to ensure the ball gets to him before the DB has a chance to make a play on it.

OVERALL

Tyler Scott is a solid route runner who is capable of taking the top off the defense and pairs that with the ability to go up and get the football when it is thrown outside of his body as well as the ability to complete contested catches when defenders are in close range. Cincinnati moved him all over the offense and often sent him in motion pre-snap, he’s well versed in running routes from multiple different spots. Strong play making ability after the catch though he at times over extends himself and loses balance.
