OVERALL
Ricky White is an under-the-radar WR possibly coming out in the 2025 class, unless you are in a C2C or Devy fantasy league. While watching the film, I came away very impressed with White, especially with his toughness and concentration. You can tell by looking at his size that he is not the biggest or strongest WR, he has no problem fighting through contact and making the catch. One play showcasing this that caught my attention was against Kansas where he fights through a handsy defender and has enough concentration to track the ball for a TD. As a vertical threat, White excels as he has good deep speed and can stack a defender pretty well. PFF has White down for 5 drops on 135 targets, while watching his film I felt he has very secure hands and uses good technique. White also shows a high-level field IQ, constantly sitting down in zones, making himself a target for his QB, and is very good at making grabs along the sideline while dragging his feet, these things are a very underrated part of his game that WR coaches will love. In the few games I watched of White from 2023 I did not notice much explosiveness or crispness in his route running, but I have noticed a slight improvement in that area in 2024. Would like to see him get in and out of his breaks a bit sharper. Another area of concern in his routes is that I do not see a lot of defensive manipulation used to get the DB out of his hip pocket. The UNLV Senior has a lot of potential and could elevate his draft stock in the 2025 season. Right now, I see White as a late day 2 pick-early day 3 pick in the NFL draft and a possible 3rd round pick in your dynasty leagues.
