Easy Like Thursday Nights – Week 5

Indianapolis Colts @ Denver Broncos

Denver -3.5 over 42

The week 4 Thursday night match up proved to cause a stir and create some controversy heading into week 4 as the Bengals defeated the Dolphins at home 27-15 with the biggest story coming out of the game being Tua’s concussion and overall health status. Week 5 presents with another crucial AFC match up between two underachieving teams with much higher hopes for the 2022-2023 season.

Both the Colts and Broncos are coming off week 4 losses and week 5 is shaping up as a must win for each team. For the Broncos unfortunately in addition to losing the game they also got the bad news that they’ve lost their starting running back Javonte Williams for the season with a torn ACL. That being said our good old friend Melvin Gordon has just landed his plane back on the island of fantasy relevance! Mike Boone will back him up and probably get more targets but I love Melvin to get in the end zone at least once for a Denver offense that has been HORRIBLE in the red zone so far this season.  The Colts got the same double whammy last week in addition to losing the game they also lost arguably the best running back in the NFL Jonathan Taylor to injury and due to the short Thursday night turnaround he has been officially deemed OUT for Thursday… introducing Nyheim Hines who will now take over as the lead back in Taylor’s absence… I think the most excitement for Hines comes with his PPR (Points per reception) and receiving potential if he is on the field for 75% of their offensive snaps.

Things get a little more complicated when we move to where the WRs and pass catchers are with the salary cap… Michael Pittman and Courtland Sutton are the only ones I really feel ok about trusting…Mo Alie-Cox is coming off a 6 catch 2 touchdown game so I’ll give him a play but we also know all those Colts tight ends to be extremely inconsistent from a fantasy perspective historically.

Russell Wilson finally had a decent fantasy game despite the loss last week to the Raiders and now without Javonte Williams to anchor the running game I expect Russ to be leaned on more to create with both his arms and legs and feel good about rolling him out this week in the single game line up. I will NOT say the same about MATT RYAN as he has been fools gold from a fantasy perspective ever since he was throwing to Julio and Roddy in Atlanta. I do think to round out a line up you could potentially get some run out of the Broncos defense or the Broncos kicker McManus.

We cashed in the millionaire single game with 2 line ups last Monday night in the Giants Cowboys game, we missed on the Dolphins Bengals game but hit once again last Sunday and Monday night for the Tampa/Chiefs and Rams/49ers prime time games… The single game contest is our specialty please feel free to reach out with any line up questions to the @toiletstotitles twitter page or YouTube channel!
