PRO’S
Carter is a freak athlete, and 100+ Tackles at Army is freakishly insane. Carter came out of high school as a wide receiver and he has speed to keep up with anybody on the field, along with a long wingspan that helps him make plays in passing defense. Carter has the beginning of a speed rush and just enough bend that helps him beat linemen off the ball.
CON’S
Carter coming from a service academy is the first major red flag. With the military being not so kind to players being drafted in the past this can lead teams to remove him from their boards completely. The second major red flag is you don’t really know what he is; do you have him bulk up and have him put his hand in the dirt as a freakishly athletic end or do you take a few years and really refine his coverage skills and have him play linebacker? When it comes to his coverage skills he will need to work on his hips as they look stiff in transition.
OVERALL
Carter is a freakish talent that is still raw but with the right staff can really turn him into a diamond. If these numbers were put up at any P5 school he would be a lock top-10 pick. The only question is are teams willing to take the gamble if he’ll be able to play or not.
